After three tough days in the field, we got to sleep in today, and then take a leisurely trip to our next stop-over, Sabana Beach Resort on Lake Langano, about a 3 hour drive. We thought we might see some wildlife on this trip, and sure enough, just a few kilometers out of Adamo, some baboons were begging from tourists along the roadside.
We had planned to do a short trip through a wildlife park, but we had to make a rain-check on that. The cars turned in to the resort, and we checked in to some really lovely cottages for the afternoon and night. Obviously, the birds have been fed here, as they almost came in the door to beg for some food. We did not have a bird book with us, so here are some pictures of what we saw:
A black and white bird:
A blue bird:
A yellow bird
And, the special treat—a horn-billed bird:
There are some tortoises at the resort. One of them actually had his head out! Some time, ask Jim to tell about seeing wild tortoises in the forest!
The lake is beautiful from our hill-top resort.
We expect a nice treat before seeing more well sites tomorrow. Stay tuned————
