Back to school doesn’t have to be all about the kids!  At Water to Thrive’s Trunk Show this week, moms could buy new jewelry for Fall, stock up on notecards for teachers and snag some coffee for dad!  The best part?  All the proceeds went to provide clean water in Africa.

Two separate W2T Trunk Shows were held Wednesday and Thursday presenting the beautiful jewelry, crafts and culture of East Africa.  As guests arrived to purchase beaded necklaces, scarves and charms, an Ethiopian coffee ceremony was performed.  The constant aroma of coffee mixed with music from East Africa brought a strong sense of culture.  Many W2T volunteers, Water Angels and staff were present to share their experience with the mission.  Large photos were displayed to show W2T trips and the kind of impact events like the Trunk Show make.

The two most popular items were W2T’s notecards and water-themed charms.  Each notecard has different themes portraying fantastic pictures of Africa and W2T travels.  The charms were significant to the cause: a water angel, jerry can, water drop, and more!  Additional items that filled the room included unique silver jewelry and scarves, hand-crafted by Ethiopian artisans. The silver jewelry was crafted by and Ethiopian silversmith John Silver, and other pieces came from artisans in the region of Lake Hawassa. The textiles were woven by the women of the Ploughshare Women Crafts Center in Gondar, Ethiopia.  All of the items can also be purchased through a W2T catalog.  This means, you can always buy W2T gifts and always give the gift of clean water!

Pieces are custom orders from the artisans and may take 60 days for delivery. For Christmas gift items, orders must be placed no later than November 1, 2013 to insure delivery. You may click here to download complete catalog and order form.  If you have questions or want to place an order on the phone, contact us at team@watertothrive.org or call the office at (512) 206-4495.

**Water to Thrive wants to thank Stacy Brown, Sarah McWhorter, Suzanne Barrick and Chez Zee for hosting the Trunk Shows!  We are so blessed and thankful for your support.
