For Ugandans and all Africans, water is fellowship – water hydrates their bodies and nourishes their souls, and wells are the delivery system that symbolize new hope for a better life.

Clean water is a human right.

 

This is a gorgeous, green and lush country, with rain five months out of the year and just last night we experienced a powerful and brief thunder and lightning storm! Much of Northern Uganda is rebuilding after years of civil war and safe, accessible water is a crucial facet of that healing …
 
Healing after two decades of brutal attacks by the Lord’s Resistance Army rebel insurgency … kidnappings of more than 60,000 children … burning and looting of villages …tens of thousands maimed, disfigured and killed … displacement of millions of families …
 
Once more, they are gathering around the wells and a sense of normalcy and security has returned. Despite the huge challenges of extreme poverty and devastation from war, we see smiles of strength and grace every day. Smiling is an integral part of this culture and their smiles are radiant! We have felt and given a lot of love in the last week here.
