Anja’s Birthday ~ The Gift of Clean Water

About the Campaign

As I approach a personal celebration of a milestone birthday, I have been reflecting over the past few months on the happy life I have been blessed to live all these years.  In this reflection, I think about grace that has been extended to me, amazing love, good health, marvelous opportunities, dreams that have come true, countless friends and family that I love very much.  This year, I feel inspired to celebrate by good fortune by doing something for someone else.

One simple way that I have been blessed, is that I have spent my entire life never once worrying about water.  I never have had to think about where to get water, if it was clean, or if it would do harm to me if I drank it.  Unfortunately, there are people in this world who do have to not only think about water, but actually worry about it.  That is why for this birthday I have decided that instead of receiving gifts this year, I would prefer that we all come together and raise funds to provide a water well for a small community in Ethiopia.

To help inspire you to give at least $50 to this water well project, I have pledged to personally do 50 sun salutations in succession.  As many people know my yoga practice has been a big influence in my awareness of others, better health and many times my quiet space to pray to God.  It was while doing one of these sun salutations, listening for some direction about what to do for my big birthday this year, that I was nudged to raise $5000 for a water well.  So, why not see if I can even do 50 sun salutations at once and ask those who would support me to pledge a dollar for every one that I do, to Water To Thrive.

I will be doing 50 sun salutations in the month of November at my local studio in the Seattle area, along with my friends, to fund this initiative.  I welcome your love and support.
