About the Campaign
In 2007, a group gathered at TLLC to talk about the biggest global challenges we face and to listen for how God was calling people of faith to respond in love to our neighbors in need. Highlighted in that class, was the World Water Crisis. In 2007, nearly 1 billion people in the world did not have access to clean water!
Members of TLLC felt the Holy Spirit calling them to respond in love, to end the World Water Crisis. From that small class, TLLC provided clean water to twelve communities in rural Ethiopia, marking the birth of Water to Thrive.
Since 2007, Water to Thrive has helped hundreds of other congregations, organizations and schools to join in the fight. Through its generous donors from TLLC and beyond, 400,000 people now have clean water. Today, the number of people worldwide without access to clean water has fallen to 800 million.
This spring, we are launching a special campaign, “Celebrating Wells of Love.” The goal of this campaign is to celebrate the partnership between TLLC and Water to Thrive, and to challenge our congregation to respond by affirming our calling to end the World Water Crisis.
Our goal of $30,000.00 will help to bring clean water to at least three more communities, in honor of the pastoral leadership of TLLC, who throughout the years have inspired our members to respond to God’s calling to love all. Donations will also help to send former and current pastoral leadership from TLLC, along with our Bishop, to Ethiopia to connect with the communities where the first wells were built in 2008. We will share stories of God’s love and celebrate the dedication of three new wells.
I hope you will consider answering God’s call to end the World Water Crisis and support our “Celebrating Wells of Love” campaign.
