Giving Tuesday is a national day of giving. This year for Giving Tuesday we are thinking big and aiming to bring clean, safe water to 1,000 people. We cannot do it without you. If you or your group has already sponsored a well, you understand the life-giving impact of clean water. If you have not yet supported a well, check out these stories below.
Zenebech is a farmer and devoted wife living in the Tigray region of Ethiopia. She used to walk over 5 hours a day to collect dirty water for her and her husband. She said that “the quality of water was poor and frequently I had been infected with water borne diseases. The average cost for medication and transportation to the nearby hospital ranges from 1000-1500 ETB.” (Zenebech and her husband live on less than 50 ETB a day.) However, thanks to donors like you, a well was built minutes from Zenebech’s home. Zenebech wants donors to know: “I am filled with joy because I have got clean water five minutes’ walk from my home. Thanks to this gift of water, our life is changed and I get more time to do house work and farm activities.”
$10 provides clean water for 1 person like Zenebrech.
Wamala, Chairman of the Namasenene Village, located in the Mityana District of Uganda, used to watch his children get sick from drinking dirty water. “Our community all along had been abandoned,” he said. When Water to Thrive built a hand-dug well in his village, “it was a dream come true! Our community has always longed for safe and clean water. Now there is no more sickness. My heartfelt thanks to donors who provided this well. More than 400 people in my community now have access to clean and safe water.”
$70 provides clean water for an entire family like Wamala’s.
$5,000 provides clean water for an entire community of approximately 500 people.
Thanks to our 100 Percent Promise, all of your donations to water projects go entirely towards funding new wells. In addition, Water to Thrive water projects provide clean water for 20-30 years. Donate to our Giving Tuesday fundraising campaign or launch your own and spread the word! Either way, this giving season, you can give a gift that creates a lasting impact. Give the gift of life. Give for clean water. We need your help to build wells and change lives.
