During W2T’s trip in May, our team met with Bishop Hailu Yohannes of the South Central Ethiopian Synod of Mekane Yesus in Hawassa, Ethiopia. Water to Thrive has been doing projects with their Synod for the last two years and we are so grateful for this partnership. For the entire month of June, Rev. Hailu Yohannes is in the US studying at a St. Louis seminary. He will be in Austin THIS WEEKEND! Please join us in welcoming him and hear how to support W2T’s mission in bringing clean water to Ethiopia! Invite your friends, family, neighbors and coworkers to one (or all) of our events.
About Rev. Hailu Yohannes–
Rev. Hailu Yohannes Bulaka is originally from South Aleta Wondo, Ethiopia. He is 47 years old, married and has four children. He is serving as pastor in one congregation–Bethel Mekane Yesus and is President of the Ethiopian Evangelical Mekane Yesus – South Central Ethiopia Synod. His ministry area covers the entire Sidama Zone and West Arsi Zone. Under his supervision, there are 1,327 congregations and half a million members! His church is a Lutheran Church, which is growing very quickly in Africa. For the entire month of June, Rev. Hailu is attending the St. Louis Concordia Seminary for a Doctor of ministry program. Luckily, he is coming to Austin to pay us a visit!
Good news! There will be THREE opportunities to meet Rev. Hailu this weekend–
1. Saturday, June 28th: Triumphant Love Lutheran Church is hosting a meet and greet/lunch with Rev. Hailu from 11:00am-1:30pm. Come hear him talk about Ethiopia, elaborate on the need for water, and share ways you can help. If you’re planning on joining us, we will be meeting in the upper room. This is going to be the best time of the weekend to meet and have conversation with Hailu- you don’t want to miss it! Plus, who doesn’t love free lunch?!
2. Sunday, June 29th: Rev. Hailu will be giving the sermon at Abiding Love Church at 8:00am. He will be available for a little bit after the service for questions, so stay and mingle!
3. Sunday, June 29th: Rev. Hailu will also be giving the sermon at Saint Martin’s Evangelical Lutheran Church at 10:00am. After worship, you can stick around to talk with him.
