We have two new interns here at Water to Thrive this summer!

One of our interns is here thanks to a program called Serve Here. Serve Here is an organization that brings together college students who love the Lord and want to put their skills to use in the workplace with nonprofit ministries. Serve Here’s mission statement is:

“to inspire, encourage, and equip the next generation of Christian leaders to pour themselves out for others”

The executive director and founder of Serve Here, Dave Panos, interviews college juniors and seniors who apply for the program, chooses a group of these students (this summer there are 11 students participating), and then connects each one of them with an internship at a local nonprofit that relates to that student’s interests, passions, and talents. Serve Here partners with nonprofit ministries such as Water to Thrive, Side by Side Kids, the Chicon Pregnancy Resource Center, Mobile Loaves and Fishes, and Mission Possible.

Outside of the daily activities at their internships, the students meet weekly as a cohort with their leader, Dave. Dave is a Christian executive with a passion for missional living and entrepreneurship. He leads the students of Serve Here in a curriculum designed to foster success at each of their internships, engagement with like-minded students, and one-on-one coaching. This week, the Serve Here students met with us HERE at the Water to Thrive office!

We got to talk with them about our work in Africa, how Water to Thrive was started, and ways we have developed. We also discussed the book we recently finished, No Greater Love. Get ready Austin because Serve Here is preparing students to live out their faith and serve in their future workplaces. This program is going to send out a lot of students who will make a big difference.

We are so glad to have a partnership with Serve Here!
