This is the first day that I have a chance to post a note regarding this trip (November 28, 2014).

Our trip started with a visit to International Lifeline Fund in Washington DC.  Then lots of flying time landing in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and then on to Entebbe, Uganda (Lake Victoria).  A nights layover there and on to Lira, Uganda (Northern) today (crossed the Nile) on our way.  Arrived after noon and was treated to a Thanksgiving meal (yes including Turkey that our host purchased some days ago) so we would have a typical Thanksgiving meal.  Started with pumpkin soup.

Host Nicholas and our cook at the ILF guest house

Then we traveled to a well site and unfortunately it had rained earlier in the day.  Unfortunately our plans slowed a bit with becoming stuck for a bit.  Fortunately it was not a long delay.

The well we visited was completed in August of this year and replaces a water site that was a swamp. It is already serving almost 400 community residents.  This community has a Community Health Club that has the fundamental goals of education and behavior chance regarding sanitation and hygiene.

Meet Agnes Akullo who is a very grateful recipient of this well for her family.  She expressed that she has already seen a great improvement in the health of her children and appreciates that she has more time to care for her children and have fresh water for cooking and baking.

Must say that she represents the story of how a sustainable supply of clean fresh water changes lives.  Water changes lives.

More to follow as we progress on our visits and appreciate your thoughts, prayers and concerns.  Will try and keep these notes short and hopefully interesting.
