During our recent visit to Uganda, our team met a young girl named Medina in the community of Kakooge. Her aunt, Rossett, greeted us with a joy that immediately told us something had changed. She explained that Medina is finally healthy—a dramatic shift from the months when her stomach was painfully swollen from typhoid and chronic bloating.
Today, Medina is thriving. Thanks to compassionate donors like you!
She has just started school this year, and she’s already known in her village for her creativity. She makes soccer balls out of old clothes and sponges so the neighborhood children can play soccer together. Her laughter, her energy, her confidence — all of it is new. All of it is possible because her community now has access to clean, safe water.
And the transformation doesn’t end with her.
Rossett shared how clean water has opened doors for her as well. With more time, better health, and renewed hope, she has launched her own salon and now runs an apprenticeship program, teaching local women how to braid hair so they can build their own sustainable businesses. What began as a single water project has become a ripple of opportunity touching an entire community.
This is what clean water does.
It restores health. It returns girls to school. It empowers women to build livelihoods. It strengthens families and reshapes futures.
